A Queer Suddenness

Still, there was the ringing in our ear
Of the tinkling bells of the New Year.
                     Dancing, singing, and decorating pine,
                     Everyone thought all was fine.

Something happened out of the blue
                     No one had any clue!
A suddenness, a silence got widespread,
Making our lives miserable, full of dread.

The silence was as quiet as the night,
All we could hope was a ray of light.
A new virus had given us a frown,
All of us had to bow down.

The fear kept us all at our home,
Trying to make it an antivirus dome.
The virus spread its base, miles apart,

                     Anxiety grew in everyone’s heart.

Countries were locked down and so were we,
Forgetting about nature walks, hills, and sea.
I stood lonely on the tallest hill,
Hoping and praying that no one gets ill.
