Don't Let Anyone Dull Your Sparkle
I remember the first time I heard about Covid- 19. I was sitting on the balcony
with my mother when she told me that there was a new virus in China called
the“ Corona Virus.” Back then, I never would have thought that the virus would
take over our lives! I read a quote somewhere, “The version of ourselves that
exists now would not have existed without Covid- 19.”
For starters, I would not be so accustomed to the phrase, “Am I audible?” Online
learning is probably the biggest change that comes with this pandemic. It took
several weeks for everyone to get used to it and we are still learning and upgrading
the experience by using different platforms. Online school has made me realize
how much I miss physical school and how much I took it for granted. Before the
pandemic, if you had told me that I would be unhappy with a six months holiday, I
probably would have laughed!
This pandemic has also gifted me with a lot of new friends. Before the pandemic,
I wasn’t very close to the people of my condominium. However, one day while
I was sitting at home getting bored, I decided to send a message to a girl I was
familiar with. We decided to meet outside and soon we became good friends.
She even introduced me to her other friends in the condominium, and I became
close with them as well.
While we are bound to our homes, Nature is flourishing. Pollution has gone
down drastically, there were no cars on the roads during the lockdown!
I cannot tell you how strange it felt, not to hear the routine honking of horns!
The sky has become clear, and rainbows are visible as well! I remember I saw a
rainbow outside my window once during the lockdown.
As I saw the beautiful colors spill through the sky, I couldn’t help wondering if
we should thank the Corona Virus for helping Nature to rejuvenate! In fact, my
phone is filled with pictures of that beautiful rainbow.
Has the Corona Virus done more harm than good? I do not know. All I know is
that it has made me grateful for the things that I used to take for granted. I am
grateful that my family is safe, that I have a sound shelter, and that my education
can still continue online. After all, after six months, being bound to our homes
almost feels like the new normal.
