Random Thoughts

Fingers on my keyboard, my mind elsewhere
Trying to take in a different environment, where
The birds chirrup in abundance, the sky is azure blue

The air is clean and fresh and no horns blew.

The kingfisher came calling, the mynahs did appear
The humming birds sauntered, bugs glowed in the night so clear.
The peacocks and the deer, found their way to town
While man hid behind a mask, features marred with a frown.

The new leaves heralded, the onset of Spring
Happiness, smiles and joy, they were supposed to bring.
Only this time it was meant for the ‘other’ creatures
Mother Nature decided it was time to take a breather.

This was not how, it was supposed to be
Birds and animals rejoiced, while imprisoned were we
In a cage that was, of our own making
Over the years not giving much, we were always taking.

Maybe it is a signal from the Almighty to go slow
Take life as it comes, move on with the flow.
There was a time in history, when respecting Nature was taught

We changed it to suit our needs, brought it to a naught.

As I stand outside today, breathing the refreshing air
I look up to the Heavens, offering a silent prayer
For giving mankind a chance, displaying what is in store
Mending and respecting Nature, without asking for more.

Mother Nature has been relentless, decisive and swift
The way our world will work now, will see a paradigm shift.
From its footloose, domineering, casual proposition
We hope it moves towards careful introspection.
