School Comes Home
The lockdown feels like a never-ending saga. Do you know, how do we students spend
our days without going to school? How do we enjoy ourselves without our friends? How
do we study?
Well, I must say I am lucky!!! My studies are being taken care of by my school Principal
and teachers. We for sure cannot go to school during this time of the pandemic,
but to our surprise, the “school has come to us” THIS IS THE NEW NORMAL.
.
It is not for nothing that teaching is believed to be a noble profession.
“If doctors are saving the world, then, teachers are shaping the world.”
We burn our eyes in front of the screen daily for 5 – 6 hours with our teachers taking
our lessons. My eyes burn at times. I am still getting used to this kind of teaching.
Though it is a virtual meeting the feel is the same as that of a normal school.
We are “back from school” by 1 or 2, depending on the number of classes. I do not
attend my classes in uniform and do not take my tiffin. All I have to do is to switch on
my laptop and take my classes. My mom does not come to pick me from this school.
All I have to do is to go to the dining hall to join and eat with my family (Bon Apetit) after
classes. In a way, it is nice because I can lie down on my soft, cozy bed while listening
to the lectures. I can also munch during my classes by keeping my microphone off.
There are some fun elements even in online classes. Some mischievous students mute
or remove other kids or keep chatting with one another during classes. This instigates
the teachers to scold us, but they keep their cool as they understand that we too have
to put in a lot of effort to sit in one place for a long time during these virtual classes.
Even competitions are being held online. It’s quite fun, these online competitions.
The sports department of our school takes care of our health by posting exercise
modules on YouTube. The music and dance department also uploads videos of dance
steps which is meant for us to practice as we would have done it in our dance class,
notes of certain songs on different instruments is shared to us by the music teachers. The
art department helps hone our creative skills by teaching us new DIY crafts and graffiti.
Thanks to my school and my parents so, I am sitting at home during this pandemic
and learning a lot, so A BIG CHEERS FOR THE TEACHING FRATERNITY!!
Due to this novel coronavirus, our lives have changed to a large extent. I wish all the
people follow the rules of the government, be safe and help to eradicate this virus.
As H.E. Luccock said, “No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it.”
It is not without reason that the word TEAM is said to stand for “Together Everyone
Achieves More” This too shall pass. Let’s work as a team to overcome the crisis.
